EnergyGuide labels
EnergyGuide labels provide information on the energy efficiency and cost effectiveness of home appliances. Based on data from the Department of Energy, the labels appear on most major appliances making it easy for consumers to compare.
Each yellow-and-black label lists:
- Yearly cost to operate
- Energy usage
- Make and model specifics
- Prominent features.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) currently requires the EnergyGuide label on 11 appliances, including clothes washers, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, dishwashers, room air conditioners, central air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and pool heaters.
